Our Story, Vision, and Values

Our Story

One of the things we Highrockers like to do from time to time is to tell our Life Stories. We talk about the good times, the hard times, the ways we’ve seen God move and redeem and transform our lives.

And as a church, we have a Life Story too. Our story starts long before our church did, all the way back in 1999 when we were just a twinkle in our parent church’s eye. A small group of Christians from a hodgepodge of different backgrounds gathered together at a home in Needham on a street called Highrock.  But despite their differences, they shared a common vision that God could actually do something new through them in Greater Boston.

Connecting to God personally, God's people, and God's purposes.

The vision of every Highrock church is:

To see God transforming every neighborhood and institution in Greater Boston through locally-focused congregations who live and love in such a compelling and Christ-like way that our neighbors are challenged to seriously consider the claims of Christ, be reconciled to God, engage in Christian community, and serve others in the unique ways God designed them to, so that Boston becomes a “city on a hill” that will be a blessing to the world.

Yes, it's a bit long. And yes, it's a run-on sentence. But that one statement captures the heart of our church and what we believe God is calling us to do together. Therefore, Highrock Church on the North Shore is simply one expression of that larger Highrock vision. We believe this happens when we cultivate a loving Christian community through which sinners are transformed individually and collectively into the Body of Christ by connecting with God Personally, with God's People, and with God's Purposes.

Our Logo

The combination of an upwardly directed arrow, a house, and a starburst is representative of the three core aspects of what we are all about: transformation through connecting to God personally, connecting to God's people, and connecting to God's purposes.

Through corporate worship, community involvement, and personally investing in the lives of one another, we at Highrock hope to be a real reflection of God's love from our spot on the North Shore.
